Assateague National Seashore – Maryland | Beach Camping, Wild Horses & Family Fun

May 26, 2025 through June 1, 2025

Hello everybody, welcome back to the blog! We were at Assateague National Park for five days before going to Assateague State park for two days. They both have similar amenities but not the same. The National park has pit toilets, trash, picnic tables, fire pits, and it’s on the bay. And the State park has bathrooms, showers, dump stations, water, trash, electricity, playgrounds, fire pits, picnic tables, and best of all it’s right on the beach!

The first day we got to the spot we parked, set up, and then met our friends for the first time. We clicked almost instantly. Our friends have three kids Charlie, who is 5, Addy, who is 9, and Aubrey, who is 12. About 10 to 20 minutes after we met, we found a way to make some money together, and that was taking out people’s trash, lol. She had a wagon, and we tied it to the bike before riding around the campground, lol. It was super fun not just because we were making money but also because we got to check out the whole campground together. I honestly was surprised how fast we clicked it was an awesome way to get to know each other. We spent two hours doing trash, and by the time we came back it was dinner time. We did a collab meal, which was crab, potatoes, and a ton of melted butter, lol. After dinner, tons of mosquitoes and bugs came out, so all the adults went in our friends’ trailer and all the kids went in ours. The littles played with Landon’s toys, and me and Aubrey played a ton of card games like Uno, Rummy, Tens & Twos, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, Sorry, and tons more!

In the morning me and Aubrey started the day off with breakfast and then making a sign to go on the wagon. When our sign was done, we went off to a section of the campground we had not yet explored. After a couple of hours, we made some decent money, so we headed home to get all of our stuff ready for the beach. When we got there it was so fun we played tons of outdoor games and enjoyed our yummy charcuterie boards. While we were there, me, Addy, and Aubrey decided to go boogie boarding, which was SUPER fun! We were all catching tons of huge waves, but the fun ended as quickly as it started when me and Aubrey saw Addy getting pounded by the waves trying to get back to her board that was getting farther and farther from her. So of course me and Aubrey rushed over to her, and since we were still pretty far out, I gave her my board as she was practically hyperventilating, and I swam after hers. But it was super hard too, as the ocean was not on my side, and I too was getting hammered by the waves just as Addy was a couple minutes before. But I eventually made it to shore with her board, as did Addy and Aubrey after struggling to get out of the crazy waves. And apparently, as I was getting Addy’s board, Aubrey fell off too and had to hang on to mine aka Addy’s for the time being until they got hers back. All that to say, DON’T go boogie boarding when the tide and waves are way too strong. After that crazy mess we came back to land and chilled out before having a fire and s’mores. That was really fun as we all chitchatted and listened to the waves and soft music we had playing. After our fire we had a collab meal, which was chicken, green beans, regular beans, macaroni and cheese, and some veggies.

The next two days we just hung out inside since it was raining. We spent the days playing card games, taking photos of the horses, drinking tons of tea, doing trash when we had a break in the rain, doing that disgusting jelly bean challenge, and watching all three of the How to Train Your Dragon movies, lol. One of the nights we did another collab meal, which was super yummy tacos.

I woke up early to get my chores, school, and drive-day stuff done so we could go to Assateage state park 20 minutes down the road. When we got to the spot me and Aubrey checked it out and then did trash for a couple hours. Since most of our day was spent on getting drive-ready, moving, and setting up, it was already late by the time we finished up trash. After dinner, me and Aubrey sat next to the bathroom under a little shelter thing and drank tea while playing card games and listening to music. It was super fun, and we stayed out till 11ish before I went in to decorate for my mom’s birthday the next morning and to get some much-needed sleep.

When Mom got up I made her some coffee, then we all sang her happy birthday and watched her open her cards. After having some family time, our friends came over, so we sang her happy birthday and watched her open her card again, lol. We had a great day we ate watermelon and then went down the road to a short boardwalk trail that leads you to the beach. We all had fun taking in the scenery and chit-chatting with each other, and on our way back we got to hold a cute baby field mouse!!! When we got home it started to storm, so us and our friends came into the RV to have lunch and play card games. If you guys couldn’t tell, we LOVE to play card games, lol. After a fun couple of hours filled with friends, laughter, fun, and of course all of our games, we decided to have a collab meal together! But it wasn’t something simple we had steak tacos, street corn, grilled veggies, tons of toppings for your tacos, and our watermelon from earlier, lol. After our delicious dinner we sang my mom happy birthday again and had some yummy cheesecake and chocolate cookies!!! I think everyone, especially my mom, had an amazing day filled with all the things she loves!!

The last day, us and our friends left to go meet up with Tom and Delmara! I hope you enjoyed this blog make sure to keep an eye out for my next ones. Also, don’t forget to check out my YouTube channel if you have not yet, as I post different things on there than here!
