We’re camped on a free beach a few minutes outside of town where we stayed for just under two weeks (10/30/24-11/10/24). Our spot is super nice right on the ocean and walking distance to a restaurant as well as a fish taco stand. There is free palapas you can park at as well as a fishermen pier and boat ramp. The ocean meets the river on the other side of the pier so we were basically parked with one side facing the ocean and the other with views of the river, stunning! The only down fall of this site was the tight roads as you have to drive through the whole town to get back to the beach.

Our first day there we set up and took a walk over to the taco stand for dinner, but sadly they had already closed so we made dinner at home while watching the sunset. The next morning I woke up excited because it was Halloween! After we got ready for the day we went into town for some errands before heading over to the Mulegé brewery for the costume contest and live music. We ordered some pizza and drinks then danced around to the music. After awhile we noticed children coming and going saying tricky tricky to get candy. That’s when we realized in Mexico you can trick or treat, however you go to business’s instead of houses. This made us excited so we left the brewery and headed back to town to get some candy. The locals were so kind and calling us over to lead us to the businesses that participate. Once back at the Rv were were excited to check out our candy and see what types we got. Mexican candy is much different than what we get in the states, some are really bitter and some are spicy. It was such a cool experience getting to celebrate Halloween in a different country.

The few following days we stayed home to paddle board, fish, snorkel and play lots of board games. One evening my mom caught a scorpion fish and we were all so excited. We loved that each day different local venders would come by selling their fresh made tamales, empanadas and fresh caught fish. We met many other travelers that were coming and going at that spot. One couple was Australian that were currently doing the Pan American Highway. We walked over to the restaurant for lunch together where we ended up spending the entire day chit chatting and hanging. When they heard we had never tried clams before they wanted to be sure we had the full experience and ordered some. To our surprise they were really good. Since the sun was going down we thought we better call it a day and head home.

Another couple we met were from British Columbia named Dan and Teresa. They were a lovely couple and were also staying on the beach for an extended time, so we ended up spending lot of time with them. We watched sunsets together, had them over for a game night, Landon drew them lots of pictures and had lots of quality time. When it was time for us to head out we were all a bit sad to split ways but we planned to see each other again down the road.
