Canyon Lands-Utah

Hello everyone we stayed in La Sal Utah for three days, our spot is another boondocking one with no amenities but has beautiful panoramic views of the mountains and only 15 minutes to Canyon Lands National Park. The first day we got to our spot we got all set up, then Landon road his bike while me and my mom played games until it was dinner time.

The next morning we headed into Canyon Lands National park, along the route we stopped at newspaper rock petroglyphs. It was a huge rock with tons of petroglyphs, super cool! After we got to see the Indians talented art we headed into the park. Can you guess our first stop? If you guessed the visitor center for recommendations and jr. ranger booklets you are correct! After planning out our day we headed to a short little hike over to an old ruin that the indigenous people built to store their food, water or other supplies. Our next stop was a hike over to an old cowboy camp. The hike was nice, we got to see how the indigenous people as well as the cowboys lived in the olden days. We even got to climb to the top of the rocks where we got to see amazing views and a natural spring that was most likely how they obtained drinking water. Our last hike of the day was a longer one called Elephant Rock. It was a backpacking trail, however we decided we would just hike until we seen the viewpoint and turn back. It was a really fun trail because you had to climb up and over rocks, through canyons, but be sure to keep an eye out for trail markers as it would be easy to get off trail and lost. It was a fun filled day in the park but it was time to head home for dinner.

Since we were still many hours from Phoenix we started the trek back. Along the route we stopped in monument valley at the Forest Gump stop and took some photos. Then we stopped for an early dinner at this local restaurant where they served the most amazing dishes on Indian fried bread. For dessert we got the fried bread that was loaded with sugar and ice cream. We all basically waddled our way back to the RV with how stuffed we were. Back on the road we made it to Flagstaff where we arrived after dark for our overnight spot. Stay tuned for my Phoenix blog.
