Michigan- Perrault Lake

Hello, we are still in the UP right on a beautiful small lake called Perrault Lake. It was just a typical boondocking spot with no amenities. It was smaller but had room for a few rigs. Tom and Delmara met us there for their last spot before heading off to their new season of life.

Our first day there we blew up the paddle boards then Noah and I took them out for a few hours. After getting back I helped Elijah build a frog habitat and caught frogs and baby snapping turtles. The day flew by, ending it with a meal together and a family walk around the lake. The next day I had Spanish class, school and chores followed by hanging out with Juliette. When Tom got home we went with him to help another camper get their truck unstuck from the side of the road. Little did we know, it was a 30 minute drive back into the deep woods with this scary man as passenger. As we were driving Juliette and I got scared realizing the danger that could be and that the only way of knowing the trail was by the plastic cups he hung. Once we finally arrived to his truck Tom handed Juliette his gun just in case, but that made us even more uneasy. It was a hassle to get his truck out as he was pretty much in the river, finally we got it and were able to head back to camp. Thankfully he ended up not being a weirdo and didn’t murder us in the deep woods, lol. He was very grateful for our help and went on his way. Shortly after we arrived back to camp our friends The Hockings Adventure Bus arrived. We said hello but since it was getting late we all called it a night and headed to our rigs. Soon after we hear screaming and commotion coming from their bus. I could hear someone yell, “Run!” followed by “did you get it out, you don’t know?!”. By then we knew they were okay and that it was most likely some sort of creature their dog brought in. The next morning we were surprised to hear it was actually a bat in their bus.

We went into town to go to the skate park for a few hours. I rode roller blades, skateboard, scooter and my dads bike. It was lots of fun but after hours there we were ready to head back to camp. The next day we all packed up and headed out for an adventure to Copper Harbor. We stopped in town and had some lunch before taking the adventure road to the point. In true Christen’s fashion the route out there was very rough. Once we arrived we were amazed by the view. We explored the shoreline then grilled some dinner while the sun set. Since it was getting late we decided to head back as we had a long drive home.

The rest of our stay there we mostly hungout on the water, went for walks, sat by the fire, had dance parties and enjoyed each others company. It was very emotional when Tom and Delmara headed out because we realized it was the end of our road life together. We had spent several years doing life together and we wouldn’t be seeing them for close to 6 months… That’s the longest we have ever gone without seeing them so it will definitely be a change.

We had so much fun together but unfortunately it has come to an end. Our three families are all off in different directions so we will miss our community so much.
