Michigan-Mackinaw City

Hello everyone, welcome back! We stayed at a spot right next to French Farm Lake for 11 days. Our spot was insides the trees, secluded with a small fire pit. Right up the road is a boat ramp with a small beach area you can swim at. The first few days we caught up on chores. We went to town for laundry and groceries, then in the evenings we spent several hours down by the lake paddle boarding.

Once the weekend arrived, so did my Grandparents! They booked a hotel right down the street. So after exchanging some gifts and showing them around our campsite we headed over to their hotel. The hotel was right on Lake Huron with a private beach, indoor pool, hot tub and breakfast room. But my favorite part was their balcony over looking the lake. After they got unpacked we went down to the lake to hang out, swim and watch the sunset.

The next two days we had fun in the sun, my grandma and I took the paddle board out and she loved it. We built sand castles, sunbathed and watched the ferries come and go. It was the perfect way to spend some warm summer days in northern Michigan. In the morning we headed to town where we got ice cream, walked around looking at all the little souvenir shops, listened to live music and enjoyed each other’s company. After a full day we headed back to the hotel to get some rest because the following morning we were going over to Mackinac Island.

We ate breakfast then walked next door to get on the ferry. When we arrived to the island we stopped at some shops before we headed to Seabiscuits for lunch. The food was great, we got nachos, burgers with fries and some chowder. It was the perfect comfort food because unfortunately it was cold and rainy. Once our bellies were stuffed it was time to make our way over to the concert. They were an 80’s tribute Beatles band. They were surprisingly really good, me and my grandparents had a blast but I kind of got bored at the nah nah nahs. When the concert was over we met up with my parents and went to an arcade to wait out the rain before going shopping some more. We planned to eat dinner on the island but since the rain just wouldn’t let up we decided to get some ice cream and take the ferry back. We ordered some food and spent the rest of the evening in the hot tub.

My grandma really wanted to go to this miniature taxidermy museum, so we decided to go back into mackinaw City to check it out. Honestly it was quite the experience. They had so many little mice dressed up in different outfits and all kinds of silly animals. If you’re ever in Mackinaw city you should check it out. We couldn’t have my grandparents come all the way to Northern Michigan and not take them over the bridge into the U.P., so we decided to spend an afternoon in St. Ignace. We checked out the small town, looked at the harbor and went out to eat.

I am so grateful for their visits but wish a week wouldn’t fly by so fast. As always, saying see you later was hard and we didn’t want them to leave. Since we were sad about them leaving my parents surprised us and took us to go see Inside Out Two to cheer us up. After the movie we packed up and got a good nights sleep because in the morning we were having a drive day. See you soon.
