Welcome once again! We ditched the RV and took a little road trip to stay in a hotel in Kansas City for Mother’s Day weekend. On our drive to the hotel we had to stop for some Kansas City BBQ at Slap’s. My dad got the burnt ends sandwich with Mac and cheese, coleslaw and baked beans. My mom and I both got the brisket sandwich topped with onion rings and all the same sides as my dad. We basically had a feast but it was all so delicious that we were waddling out. Luckily from there out hotel was only a few minutes away.

The hotel was really nice, it had an indoor pool, hot tub, and arcade. Each day during happy hour they would put out a ton of free yummy snacks for the guests and their included breakfast was actually really good. They had a build your own omelet bar, French toast, pancakes, waffles, bagels, eggs, sausage, bacon, yogurt, fresh fruit and so much more.
We spent the whole first day at the pool, we thought it was going to be heated but to our surprise the water was freezing. After a bit another family arrived so I ended up playing Marco Polo, tag and some other fun pool games while my parents and Landon stayed warm in the hot tub. That evening my mom wanted to have a relaxing night and order take out Chinese food, but accidentally ordered way too much. I guess you could say our eyes were bigger than our bellies. With stuffed bellies we called it a night.

Can you guess what my mom wanted to do all day on our second day there? If you guessed relax in the hot tub you are correct! After eating breakfast we literally hung out at the pool all day. That evening my dad was going to his friend’s celebration of life while us kids and my mom stayed at the hotel. Since we had so much left over Chinese food we decided to eat that for dinner and watched a movie before bed.
The next morning was Mother’s Day. We went down and ate a feast before having to head back to the room to pack up and check out. While we packed my mom took one last relaxing bath while sipping on her mimosa. On our roadtrip back to the RV, we stopped at the cutest little farm house restaurant to get some yummy drinks and some lunch. I got the best chai latte we’ve ever tasted. This place was the perfect little place because my mom loves porches with cute lights and it was dog friendly.

After our long drive back to the RV we didn’t want to make my mom cook dinner so we found a Mexican food restaurant since that’s her favorite. We ate lots of delicious Mexican food and my parents shared a margarita tower. I think it was the perfect ending to Mother’s Day weekend and hope my mom got to feel how loved and appreciated she is.

For those of you who don’t know the main reason we stayed in Missouri during tornado season for so long was for my dad to be able to attend his best friend’s celebration of life as it was being held in Kansas City. I know it meant a lot for him to be there and I wanted to dedicate this blog in his memory. Enjoy some photos with some memories of him below.
In loving memory of Cole Kryger 8/31/90 – 4/6/24
