Missouri- McCormack Lake

Hi guys, we are staying on McCormack Lake in Missouri for 11 days. This spot is pretty nice, its designated boondocking spots right on the lake with picnic tables, the cleanest pit toilets I’ve ever seen, good solar and plenty of room to run around.

The first three days there we wanted to just chill, after remodeling and booking it across the country we just needed some down time. I did lots of school, worked on a few blogs and just hung out at home. After many days of rest we were rejuvenated and ready for an adventure. We packed a lunch and headed out to what we thought would be a nice waterfall hike. When we arrived we were a little disappointed because there wasn’t much of a hike, you basically walk down a very short path and you’re there. The waterfall was very small but it was still so gorgeous. After Dad and Landon dipped their heads under the waterfall we decided to go for a walk around the water. While we were walking my mom noticed she had ticks on her feet. After looking down we realized we were being invaded with thousands of tiny ticks and started running and freaking out. We picked all the ticks off us, but after that we were over the adventure and decided to go into town to pick up a few groceries before heading home for the night.

When we woke up the following day the sun was shining and it was getting very warm. We walked over to the other side of the lake where we found a perfect spot to swim. Just on the other side of the lake was a small waterfall and creek that was perfect for Landon to play with his cars in, so we spent a few hours there. While Landon played, my dad and I explored more of the creek and waterfall until we found there were leaches, and once again called it quits and headed back to the RV.

The next morning we woke up and had neighbors! I seen they had three dogs so of course I had to go over to ask if they were friendly with other dogs. After they told me their dogs were good with others I brought Blue out so he could play. While they were camped there we hung out with them a lot. They were all super friendly and had lots of cool instruments, some of them I had never even heard of or seen before. They also had really unique names, one was Six Shot, Moses, Dirtless, Deeproots and Amanda. It was Dirtless’s birthday and all she wanted for her birthday was to have a music day, so we all sat around the fire, played instruments and sang songs. Moses played the guitar and sang with a very deep and calming voice that I could sit and listen to all day. To end her birthday we sang happy birthday and of course had some cake. There is truly something special about the nomadic lifestyle and the connections we make on the road.

Our last day there we celebrated my baby Blue Dogs 7th birthday. My mom made him a birthday hat, and when we let him out in the morning he ran over to his friends wearing it as if he was saying lets play its my birthday. I made him some homemade peanut butter dog treats and spoiled him all day.

This spot was really fun and nice but it’s time to move on to our next spot, see you soon!
