Hello everyone we are in Cheticamp on Cape Breton Island. It’s a great spot where we can look out our windows and watch the Ocean. Our drive was a bit scary though because it was super windy and the cabot trail is a whindy road along a cliff. Once we got all set up we drove into Cape Breton Highlands National park to get a park map and our Xplorer books.

The next day we went to lunch at Mr. Chicken, it was really good and reminded me of Chick Fil a. After lunch we went into the National Park to do a waterfall hike. I had a lot of fun because we played meat grinder- a game where you can’t step on the ground. The waterfall was really pretty and they had one of the red adirondack chairs to sit and watch the falls. After a long day of exploring we headed back to the RV for the night.

We got up and out the door first thing in the morning so we could make it to a breakfast buffet. I ate a bowl of beans, oatmeal, two pancakes, sausage and potatoes. After we stuffed our bellies we headed off to the national park. When we arrived to the trail head we were planning to hike, a ranger told us they were at the max capacity so we decided to find another short hike to do before coming back. After a 1km hike to a waterfall we headed back to see if we could get on the skyline trail and luckily we could. The hike was very lovely and beautiful with lots of scenery and colors. After a long hike in you get to the very tip where you overlook the Cabot trail as well as the ocean. We hoped along the trail we would see moose, as the ranger told us there were 6 that hung in the area, but unfortunately we didn’t see any.

After spending two long days in the national park hiking on average 5-6 miles each day, we decided to find another spot to camp on the opposite side of the Cabot Trail so we could explore the other side of the national park. See you in my next blog!
