Cortez, Colorado | Free Boondocking, Mesa Verde National Park Hiking & Scenic Overlooks

Hello everyone, we were staying at a free boondocking site in Cortez, Colorado for three nights. It’s nothing special just a bunch of spots in a desert landscape and it’s really good for solar. The first day we got there we unpacked and got set up then ate some dinner and ended the night with some card games.

In the morning I did all my chores and said bye to Dad as he was heading out for the day to go fishing and recharge after our drive day. After cleaning the RV up I got ready for my Bible study. I just recently started hosting a Bible study and it’s been so amazing and if you are Christian and want to start one I totally recommend it. It’s way easier to do than I thought it would be and it helps you understand your faith better, helps you talk about faith regularly, and brings you closer to God and the people you do it with. After my Bible study was over I played cars with Landon and helped him build his Lego set. After a whole day of hanging out, watching movies, building with Legos, and calling friends I looked up a yummy pasta recipe on Pinterest and started cooking dinner for everyone.

The following day we all got up and ready to go into Mesa Verde National Park to do some fun hikes. When we got to the park we stopped at the visitor center to get Junior Ranger packets before heading to our hike. When we got to the hike we had to sit and wait about 20 minutes to listen to all the rules and safety precautions before we were finally allowed to start. The hike wasn’t that long, only a mile or two but it took us a couple of hours because it was a guided tour and we stopped to look and talk about the facts and history of the park. The hike we did was really cool because we got to see the homes built into the side of the cliff and learn how they used to live back then. To get back we had to climb through a little tunnel which was Landon’s favorite part of the hike, lol. Once we got back to the car we drove to a couple of scenic overlooks before stopping at an Indian fry bread stand because who can resist one of those. After our yummy treat we went on one last hike that was about two and a half miles up and down the canyon. After we got done with all the hikes we stopped at one of the visitor centers and filled up some water jugs before heading back home to have dinner and get some rest.

The next morning we got all packed up to go to another spot but that one ended up not working out because the national park got closed so we just ended up heading to Arizona.

I hope you enjoyed this blog but it’s time for us to go see our family and friends so make sure to keep an eye out for the next one. If you haven’t already checked out my YouTube channel make sure to go do that as I post different things than I do on here. It’s called the same as this, Adventurous Leila.
