Valley City – North Dakota | Free Lake Camping, Dock, Fishing, Family Time & Small Town Adventures

Hello everybody, welcome back! We are at a free lake spot in Valley City, North Dakota. Before this spot we had two overnight stops that weren’t very exciting, so we are skipping over them. The spot we are staying at right now is pretty simple but still nice. It has a dock, a boat ramp, a pit toilet, picnic tables, a pavilion, and it is right on the water.

When we arrived at our spot we got everything set up and then I helped my mom make dinner while my dad went fishing with Landon out on the dock. After dinner we made some chai tea and played card games while watching the sunset. It was definitely an amazing way to end our first night there!

The second day there, my mom and I cleaned the house and did a mini photo shoot. Then we helped my dad pack up all of our laundry and headed into town to get some errands done. We spent most of the day in town doing laundry, getting groceries, going to different thrift stores to get Landon some new clothes, eating out, and even picking up some new Lego sets. Once we got back home we hung out by the water, went fishing and played card games together.

The following day we hung out at the house and then went into town to get some lunch, and it was very yummy indeed. We all got burgers and fries, which were probably some of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The restaurant was super cool because they had lots of activities like cornhole, connect four, a little playhouse for kids, and a fun activity where if you found the treasure chest you could choose either a toy or an ice cream with your meal. Landon ended up finding it, so I took him to the counter and he chose an ice cream. They even let him hide the treasure chest in a new spot for the next kids that came along. After our amazing lunch we went across the road to a circus that we had tickets for. The circus had so many fun things to do including a petting zoo, camel rides, and a photo booth. There were also stands with popcorn, drinks, cotton candy, and toys. When we walked in we grabbed some popcorn, found our seats, and waited for the show to start. The show opened with a group of dancers, followed by the main guy who thanked everyone for coming and shared some fun facts about circuses. Did you know there are only about 10 full time circuses left and that in the 19th century there were hundreds of them? After that, a trapeze performer came out and did a super mesmerizing routine. A huge Clydesdale and a miniature pony performed next, followed by a guy showing off his skills with a massive lasso. A couple on rollerblades did an awesome routine, and another performer rode a bike on a tight rope while balancing a huge weight. Later on, the trapeze girl, her dad, her mom, their son, the horse performer, and the dancers all came together for a family performance that involved ladders and balancing on each other’s shoulders. My favorite part of the entire show was watching dirt bikes riding inside a huge metal ball. After the show we headed home, made dinner, and crashed.

The last three days were mostly spent just relaxing by the water. I spent time tanning, reading, paddle boarding, swimming, fishing, cleaning, doing chores, school work, photography and videography, playing card games and board games, calling friends and family, trying new baking and cooking recipes, going for walks, listening to music, watching the beautiful sunsets, building my new Lego car sets, and just having family bonding time after a long event.

We had such a great time at this spot just slowing down and enjoying some quiet time away from a big group of friends. It was exactly what we needed, but now it is time to head to our next spot. Make sure to keep an eye out for my next blog post and don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel. It is called Adventurous Leila.
