Mayesville – South Carolina Part Two | Grandparents Visit, Tea Party, Bowling, Hikes & Family Time

April 7, 2025 through May 18, 2025

Welcome back! We are still at our family’s house, but this time our grandparents flew in and stayed a day shy of a week. If you didn’t read part one (Mayesville – South Carolina Part One), I would go check out that one before reading this one.

It was night by the time they arrived at the house, as their flight was long and there’s a three hour time difference between Arizona and South Carolina. We all said our hellos, then made some yummy tea and chitchatted for a little while before letting them get situated and head to bed.

When the sun rose and everyone was ready for the day, we made our way to our favorite strawberry patch but this time, our grandparents would be joining us! The strawberry patch is super fun, as they don’t just have a bunch of strawberries to pick. They have tons of other activities too, like slides, a bouncy pad, a merry go round, a slingshot that shoots stuff across the lake, basketball, swings, a sandbox, some farm animals you can pet, and a little store where they sell delicious strawberry smoothies, the best chocolate milk on earth, honey, and tons of other yummy stuff! When we arrived, we got our baskets, then picked a ton of the best, juiciest-looking strawberries we could find. Strawberry patches don’t sound that fun to go to, but with the right people and the right weather, it’s an amazing experience and you can make so many memories like we did! I think we all had fun picking the delicious looking strawberries, then doing some of the other activities while drinking their outstanding strawberry smoothies! When we got home, we made some strawberry jam and named it Jan’s Jam, as our grandma’s name is Jan lol.

The following day was super fun, as the boys went bowling and the girls went to a tea party, which I haven’t done in a super long time so it made it one hundred times better. When we got to the place, they let us pick out a fun hat and a unique teacup that we liked before leading us to our table. When we were seated, they served us our first tea, which was a sweet raspberry one. After chitchatting and picking out another tea, the waiter brought out a bunch of plates filled with delicious pastries and lunch foods like blackberry cake, little cupcakes, cookies, brownies, cucumber cream cheese sandwiches, regular sandwiches, a little salad, and some other snacks plus another tea, which was cucumber peppermint. Us girls had an amazing couple of hours having family bonding time and getting to eat/drink all the yummy stuff, but it was time to walk around the little town and check out all the cute shops! We walked around for 15 to 20 minutes, and I even got some jewelry at a little thrift shop before we made our way home. I hope the boys had just as much fun as we did!

The weather was perfect for a little walk with our family, so that’s exactly what we did. We drove over to a sandwich place, then went over to a little walk/hike trail. It was a great trail to see all the geese and walk along the sparkly water. We chose a nice sitting spot by the water to eat our food before having a nice walk along the lake. We all enjoyed the nice, shaded walk and getting to spot a ton of geese along the way. We even got to take a super old elevator to cross the bridge lol. After our amazing walk, we went back home and hung out before making our way to the boys’ baseball game. At the game, we hung out with our family and friends and ate a TON of boiled peanuts which, in my opinion, are super good and I definitely recommend!

The following day, we hung out and then went to dinner one last time before our grandparents left to go to a hotel for a night. It was a sad but fun dinner, as they were leaving, but we had a good time playing all the yard games. After dinner, we said our goodbyes and headed back home for bed.

I think we can all agree that we had an amazing time with our family, and sadly, it has come to an end but at least we have memories we will never forget. And it will not be our last time making them either. I hope you enjoyed my blog—make sure to keep an eye out for Part Three, where we celebrate Mother’s Day!
