Land O’ Lakes & Ruskin Campground – Florida | Water Views & Rustic Camping

March 2, 2025 through March 6, 2025 – March 6, 2025 through March 11, 2025

Hello everyone! We were staying at Land O Lakes for five days. It doesn’t really have amenities there-just some water and tons of spots. When we got there it was already dark, so we ended up parking in a random spot.

The next morning me and my mom went to run errands. We went to many different stores and even got sushi for lunch before heading back to the RV. When we got home, we put away all of our groceries and scouted out the area to move into another spot as ours wasn’t that good. We ended up finding one that was pretty nice. It was backed up to a little pond and away from all the other spots. After we got set up in our spot, it was already dinner time, so we ate and headed to bed.

After a not-so-good night’s sleep, we realized that we were all not feeling our best, so we mostly just slept and watched movies. That afternoon a ranger came over and told us we had to move as the spot we were in wasn’t an actual spot. Obviously, we were confused and annoyed as we were all not feeling well, and there were no signs telling us we couldn’t camp there. Plus, we had to pack up again and move to a different spot. Later we realized that the sign that said “no camping” had gotten blown into the bushes. But dad still went over to fish while we were taking naps.

A couple more days of much-needed rest went by. One of our bus friends showed up. Since we were not feeling our best and they were only staying a night, we just chitchatted for a little bit before getting back on the road to check into a campground. When we got there, we set up, made food, checked out the amenities, took nice long hot showers, watched a movie, and finally got some much-needed sleep. This spot is really nice as it had bathrooms with showers, multiple playgrounds, water, a dump, fire pits, picnic tables, a beach area, and most of the spots backed up to a spring. We ended up staying at this campground for one day shy of a week.

Most of the days there we spent as sick ones, so we didn’t really get to explore the area, and we also didn’t get to take advantage of most of the amenities. But we did take a walk down to the beach, which was right next to the playground, and of course Landon had to play on it for a solid 20-30 minutes. After the playground, we all walked down the beach and found a spot to sit and watch the small waves before going back to the RV.

Since my mom was sick but still wanted to take the paddleboard out onto the river, my dad brought her out, which I thought was super sweet of him to do. Later in that week, I got motivated enough to go through all my stuff, organize it, and do all of my chores that piled up over the week. I hope people can enjoy the 15 books I shoved into the little library box they had there, lol.

I hope you guys enjoyed my blog, even if it was not my best one yet. We hope to visit them again and explore them more, as we didn’t really get to do that this time around. I’II see you guys in my next blog!
