Descanso, California

December 26, 2024 through December 29, 2024

Hello and welcome back! We made it back to the States and are staying at a Thousand Trails campground in Descanso, California for four days with another full time family. This campground has lots of amenities, including a lodge, restrooms, showers, a laundry room, playground, pool, hot tub, walking paths, and hiking trails. They also offer fun activities at the lodge.

Our drive was pretty long since we had to cross the border and the campground was a couple of hours away. Once we arrived, we got everything set up. I then hung out with our friends for about an hour. We caught up while enjoying some apple pie.

The next morning, my mom and I headed out to run some much-needed errands. First, we stopped at the pet store to grab dog food and a new bed for Blue. His old one was full of Baja sand, lol. After that, we went to Costco, visited two other grocery stores, and finished the trip with a stop for açaí bowls. When we returned, we put the groceries away and did a reset on the RV. I washed the dishes, cleaned out our cooler, swept the floor, and helped my mom with laundry. After finishing chores, Landon and I went to the park and played tetherball with our friends. That evening, the adults made homemade pizzas that looked absolutely delicious! While we waited, my friends and I sang karaoke, played cards, and watched some shows. After a few hours of fun, we headed back to the trailer for some much-needed rest.

The following day we got up a little earlier because the lodge had a full schedule of activities planned. After getting ready, both families walked over for a yummy breakfast. Donuts and coffee were the perfect start to the day. Later, my friends and I painted our nails while watching a show. In the afternoon, we joined in on the lodge activities. First, we painted rocks. I decorated three: one with a sunset, one with an ocean, and one with a desert and a saguaro cactus. While they dried, we made snowmen out of candy. The activities were super fun and I’m glad they offered them. I think Landon especially enjoyed making and eating his snowman. To end the day, we went to the hot tub. It felt amazing since it was cold outside and the water was super warm. While we were at the pool area, we also did a polar plunge. It was freezing! It honestly felt like tiny knives stabbing into your skin the moment you jumped in!

We had such an awesome time reconnecting with friends and I’m so happy we got to meet up again. But now it’s time to head to our next destination, which is our EVENT! See you in the next blog. Bye for now!
