Dates 12/14-12/20
Hello everyone, we are at Playa Santispac again! But before we arrived here we had an overnight in Ciudad Constitucion to break up the long drive. We stayed at a truck stop for convenience as they have showers, laundry and we can get gas all in one spot. To our surprise when we arrived back to Santispac it was packed. We seen a small opening right next to another rig that had toys out so we knew they had kids. We asked them if they would mind if we squeezed in next to them and of course they said we could. After getting set up we met the family next to us and before we knew it, it was dinner time. Neither of us were ready to call it a night so we ended up doing a collab dinner and continuing to enjoy each other’s company.

The next day we went straight out to enjoy the beach and hangout with our new friends. Abby and I bought bracelets from one of the vendors, then we made some fun movies and she showed me how to use the Insta360. We spent the rest of the day swimming, tanning and playing board games before ending the evening with yet another collab meal. One thing I love about travel life is the instant connection you have with other families. You have so much in common and live such similar lifestyles that most of the time you’re instant besties and want to do as much life together as possible, because you know eventually you’ll be back on the road again and may not be heading in the same direction.

Abby and I got ready, packed snacks, water and took the kayak over to the hot springs and she told me about a hidden slide we could go to. When we arrived we soaked in the hot springs and this time we were actually there at the correct tide time so we were able to enjoy them. Then we walked over to the slide, to my surprise it was very steep and questionable… you know typical Mexico. It was hilarious because we couldn’t really tell how deep the water was but when we slid down we were shocked that it was super shallow and we hit our butts on the bottom. We did the slide a few more times before deciding we should probably start making our way back. The wind had picked up and was starting to intensify so we knew we wouldn’t be able to make it all the way back in these conditions. Thankfully there was a nice elderly lady near by that allowed us to use her phone to call our parents but no one was answering. We tried multiples times to each of our parents and sent a text but didn’t get any response. After about 10 minutes we decided to walk back down to the kayak to reevaluate the situation. When we got to the kayak there was a couple in a dingy that asked if one of us were Leila. I responded yes and they informed my parents Scott and Lauren had sent them over to check on us. We were a little nervous but accepted their offer to tow us back as we knew it was too rough to attempt on our own. When we made it back to camp our parents were all waiting and told us it was a great life lesson to not go out alone especially if you don’t know what the weather is going to be like.

We spent every day on the beach with our Friends but my favorite day there was when we celebrated my birthday. In the evening us and two other families went to the restaurant to have dinner, since there were so many of us we split up and did a kids table and an adult table. We had lots of yummy food before heading back to the RV where we all hung out around the campfire. My mom made homemade sourdough brownies and everyone sang happy birthday to me. Shortly after we seen two amazing things. The first one, one of our neighbors was doing fire spinning show that was outstanding. I got my camera out and got to practice some night photography of the show. The second thing was mind blowing, we noticed the water was shimmering so we took the paddle boards out to see the bio luminescence! It was so amazing, like a fairy tale brought to life. Each time you would move the paddle the whole water would light up with a shimmery blue glow. Off in the distance a boat was driving back and forth with their lights off where you could see their whole wake light up. It was stunning and such a great birthday treat.

It was so nice being able to celebrate my birthday early with some of our friends but sadly it was time for us to leave Santispac and continue our way north.
