Baja California Sur- San Ignacio

We made it to San Ignacio, the desert oasis where we stayed at a nice little campground for three days (10/28/24-10/30/24). The spot is beautiful and we were pretty much the only ones there. We didn’t ask for hookups so I’m not sure if any are offered, however they did have a shower with cold water only, a flushing toilet, a dump station, water, volley ball and kayaks for rent. We parked right along the water and were surrounded by date palms with the added bonus of cute lighting at night.

After getting set up we headed straight to town where we walked around the cobble stone streets and checked out the old mission. After exploring we got some ice cream then went to a restaurant. While we were at the restaurant we were surprised to hear in the back they had
puppies. Of course we had to go back and check them out, they had three puppies, three
bunnies, two cats, four birds and even a raccoon! Landon and I spent most of our time hanging out with the animals while mom and dad chit chatted with other travelers. It was starting to get dark so we headed back to camp where we seen wild horses along the road. It was a perfect ending to an amazing day.

The next day we got up and went straight out on the paddle board. My dad tried to get some drone footage of my mom and I out on the water but I was too chicken and kept ducking every time he would fly it near us even through my mom informed me it was like 10 feet above us. After some time on the paddle board it started to get windy so I got my book out to read but shortly after was interrupted by a nice elderly man that wanted to tell me about his property across the river. He said he was working on getting a lost indigenous tribe back together and making a home for them on his land. Soon after our conversation spread to all varieties as he was a very seasoned traveler. After a nice long chat we headed into a different part of town to get some lunch at a local stand. The tacos were amazing, to be honest I don’t think any other food can beat authentic Mexican tacos.

Again our time here was too short but since we want to make it all the way to the bottom of Baja we are on a time crunch. Thankfully my family all fell in love with Baja and has decided to spend 5-6 months down here next winter so we will definitely be back here.
