Wisconsin

Hello everyone, the time has come that we unfortunately split ways with our travel buddies. We made our way down to Wisconsin where we stayed in Gurney. It was a cute little designated dispersed campground with about 6 sites, each had a fire ring and picnic table. A short walk from our site were two waterfall hikes, one led you to the lower falls view point and one lead you to the top of the falls. When we arrived to our site the sun had just gone down so we made some dinner and called it a night. The following morning we thought we were going for a short walk around the campground, however we ended up adventuring down to the lower falls. We were very unprepared for this as we had no water and dressed in warm clothes. Little did we know once the sun came out it would be very warm and it was a million stairs down to the falls so coming back up was brutal. Thankfully we made it back to the RV, cooled down and spent the day resting as I wasn’t feeling great. The next morning my mom and I headed into “town” because I had my photography class and we had no service at camp. The closest place was about 20 minutes up the road, it was a gas station that had a bar in it. They allowed us to use their Wi-Fi and sit in the bar but it was quite the experience as the bar tender was not the most pleasant guy.

After my class we went back to the RV to get drive ready as we were headed to a HipCamp in Baldwin. We only stayed for two nights, it was a big grassy area surrounded by corn fields. Our first night there my Dad and Landon explored while my mom and I made dinner and got livable. We had an early night because in the morning we were going to meet up with one of my Dad’s friends.

We went to Willow River State Park to meet up with my dad’s friend Mike, they used to work together at Honda. We met his wife and two daughters, then headed for a short hike. It was an interpretive hike with signs along the trail. It was an interesting experience because you were to act like a bird and if you chose the wrong way the sign would tell you, you got shot or eaten by a cat and died… a little weird if you ask me. Once we finished the hike we sat by the playground to eat our lunches before heading to our next adventure. We made our way over to the waterfalls, it was another short but steep hike down to the falls. The falls were beautiful with big swimming areas at the bottom. My dad and I jumped in, the water was freezing but felt amazing at the same time. We then went to the bottom of the falls where you could walk all the way behind them, it was really loud under the falls but such a cool experience. When I was walking away from the falls I slipped on the super slimy rocks, it was very funny because when I stood up I had marks all down my bathing suit as if I pooped my pants. We spent rest of the day soaking up the sun and enjoying the waterfalls.

The next morning we packed up and got back on the road to head to a few states we’ve never been to.
