Michigan-Bear Cave TT

We stayed at our first ever Thousand Trails for almost two weeks. The campground had all the normal amenities plus a pool, playground, arcade and even a small cave to explore. The campground is right along the river and only a short drive to Lake Michigan. Our first day there I occupied Landon at the playground while my parents got everything set up and livable. We arrived in the evening so we basically ate dinner and headed off to bed.

Our second day there we went over to the pool, the pool was perfect temperature and had lots of lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas. We spent most of our days at the pool swimming, playing with squirt guns and other kids.

While we were there I met this really nice lady who loved to draw and do all sorts of crafty stuff. She had tons of chalk so her and I sat on the basketball court and drew so many things like a yin yang, blossom tree, strawberry and I even drew a Kerby. The only rule she had with the chalk was you had to use pink because apparently no one ever uses pink so she had hundreds of them.

On a hot day we thought it was a good idea to go explore the cave with hopes it was cooler in there. When we went down the stairs to enter the cave the temperature dropped dramatically, it was pretty chilly down there. The cave was okay, it definitely wasn’t my favorite cave because it was really small and had 20 billion spiders. However, I did enjoy the adventure and family time, especially the hard hats they made us wear, lol.

Aside from swimming I mostly just ran around with the 8 other girls I met along our stay. We all went to the pool, arcade, walked around and just hung out the whole time. I created a group chat so we could easily meet up as well as keep in contact after we left.

Our last day there we drove down to Indiana to meet up with my dads friend Rico. When we arrived to his house he gave us a tour of what’s now a YMCA but it actually used to be his old elementary school. Then we walked down to Lake Michigan where we sat our chairs and an umbrella. The water was so cold so I mostly just sunbathed the whole time. Around lunchtime we all got hungry so we headed over to the local rootbeer shop he took us to back in 2021. We ate hotdogs, and of course got the most amazing rootbeer ever. Once we were filled up we headed to the marina where we met up with Rico’s parents and they took us out on their brand new boat. After driving for awhile I decided to jump in fully clothed, because you only live once right. We had a blast hanging out with them but sadly it was getting late so we had to head home and get ready for another drive day.
