Welcome back, we had a fun filled time camped in the Green Mountain National forest for 11 days. Our spot is so lovely overlooking the mountains with so many colors changing daily. Vermont has two berry seasons so we foraged blackberries, cranberries and a few others at our spot. The first three days we mostly spent at our site hanging out with another full time family camped there. They were really nice and had two dogs and a sweet little girl Audrey who loved to play with Landon.

After many days playing with our new friends we decided to have an explore day and of course we went to check out waterfalls. It was so beautiful with the fall colors changing around the falls. The waterfall was right along the road so we didn’t even have to hike to it. Next we found a cool spot to eat lunch right along a river. After lunch we decided to drive around to find photo opportunities and look at all the fall colors.

We went to MorrisTown to meet another full time family at Rocktoberfest. They had two daughters and a son ages, 12, 11 and 9. They also caravan with their grandparents, I’m so jealous and wish my grandma and papa would travel with us. The festival was so much fun, us kids played with huge bubble wands and did pumpkin bowling. My pumpkin exploded everywhere, it was so embarrassing. The 11 year old girl and I got heart face paintings and Landon wanted a race car but it looked more like a beaver with wheels. After hanging out for awhile we ate at a restaurant on their patio where we could listen to the live music. We all had a very fun time and can’t wait to meet up with them again.

You can’t be in Vermont and not get Maple syrup, so of course my mom turned it into a homeschool activity and signed us up for a Maple Farm educational tour at Baird Farm. The guide took us down to the maple trees and showed us where they tapped and tubed the trees. We mostly learned about the history of maple trees, sugarhouses and syrup. The guide was very fun and extremely funny, he reminded me of CJ K(my uncle’s best friend). Once the tour was complete we got to sample all their different organic maple syrups and decided what kind we wanted to buy. We had a blast learning about maple farms but we were getting hungry so we found a nice little park to eat lunch. It had amazing views of the fall foliage, a small playground and a community garden. We spent a few hours there before heading home for the night.

The following morning I woke up excited because I had a hair appointment at the Hair Network in Middlebury. They turned an old Victorian house into a salon, from the photos my mom showed me I thought it was creepy but once we got there it was super cute with a spiral staircase and a chandelier in the entry way. The stylist was only 19!! Can you believe that? She did an amazing job, I got lots of layers with bangs and I love love love it. After my amazing haircut we met my dad and Landon at the library where they were having so much fun sitting in a clawfoot bathtub reading. Right down the street was a book store that I bought the book One Of Us Is Lying. After the book store we stopped at a frozen yogurt shop for a yummy treat before having a picnic in the park. Dad and Landon played at the park while my mom and I went thrifting. I found some really awesome cargo pants and a few pairs of shorts.

We had so much fun in Vermont and didn’t want to leave, but the weather was about to start dropping and we had reservations coming up in Maryland so we had to start heading south. Hope you enjoyed reading about our time in Vermont!
