Hello everyone, we’re back in the USA at Grand Isle State Park Campground for a few nights. The campground is right on Lake Champlain and the playground is right next to our site. They also have a dump station, bathrooms with coin showers and a bike rental. I really liked this spot.

Our first day there we got up, I did some schoolwork then went outside to play. There were so many kids at the playground, like I mean a ton! Turns out there was a school field trip going on. All the kids were 10-15 so I had so much fun with them and I even exchanged phone numbers with a few of them to keep in touch. They were playing all kinds of games and included me, my favorite was Drenched. It’s exactly like duck duck goose but you use water instead of saying goose and soak people. It was so much fun but unfortunately their buses arrived to take them back to school.
The following day was Saturday so we headed to a few local farmer’s markets. The first one was a smaller market so we just got some yummy treats and supported the kids selling lemonaid and cookies. Next we went into Burlington where they have a huge market. It was multiple blocks and broken up in sections by art, vegetables, food trucks etc. We had a lot of fun shopping and even decided to have lunch at one of the food trucks before heading back home. Once back to the RV we showered, played at the playground more then took a walk to watch the sunset over the lake before heading to bed.
On Sunday we drove an hour to explore the Adirondack Mountains in New York. My dad found this area that looked really cool walking along a gorge but when we got there we found out it was a paid entry. After we paid almost $50 to go on the hike we found out they were closing and we only had an hour to get through the whole park. We were a little bummed they didn’t tell us we would only have an hour before paying, but we decided to make the most of it. We went to the first point of interest the Elephant head, it looked more like an upside down Y to me. After exploring that area we got on the actual hike where you walk all along the gorge and see beautiful waterfalls. We also seen this really big area that had eroded over time and made a huge hole that they named Jacobs Well. People would make wishes and throw money into it. I really wanted to climb in and get the money but my parents explained to me about wells, so instead we each made a wish and threw our coins in. When we finished the hike we all thought it was worth the money even if we had to rush through it. On our way home we stopped at a local apple orchard and picked up fresh apple cider and cinnamon sticks to make a yummy treat to end the night.

Our last day there we went to a fun little park along the lake to explore South Hero Birdhouses. It started 25 years ago where the land owners read if you put bird houses up by the swamp the birds will call it home and eat the mosquitos. It started with just a few but now there is about 1000 birdhouses. The Tree Swallows return to the same breeding area year after year and their mosquito problem is less and less.

The next day was a drive day to New Hampshire but on our way we stopped at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory to learn about the history and get some yummy ice cream. During the tour we watched a short video and had a few quiz questions after. I answered every one correctly, so the guide asked me to be her helper to hand out cookie dough samples and after I was done she gave me all the left overs. After the tour we got to eat the best ice cream, Dirt cake. We explored the ice cream grave yard where all the flavors that didn’t make it rest and played on the playground before getting back on the road.

Hope you enjoyed the first part of Vermont. We’re headed to New Hampshire for two weeks before coming back to Vermont to watch the fall colors. See you soon!
