Kejimkujik National Park- Nova Scotia

Welcome back everyone, we only had two days in Kejimkujik National Park so we didn’t waste any time. Obviously our first stop was the visitors center to get our Xplorer packets and information about the park to see what we should do. Then we headed to our first hike of the day, Mill Falls. It was really pretty with water along side us the whole time. It was a very short hike for me but still fun. At the end was a roaring waterfall that looked like Coca Cola shooting out from the can. My dad researched and found out the coloring was due to all the roots and minerals in the water. After our hike we headed to Kejimkujik Lake to eat our lunch and watch the creature feature the rangers put on. They taught us about a horned owl, red fox, and a rabbit. After the creature feature we hung by the lake for a bit before heading home for dinner.

The next morning we went back to do another hike. It was really cool because there were mushrooms all over. The scenery was great and we had a really good time looking at all the different types of mushrooms. I made a competition for my family to each try and find the biggest, brightest, most clusters and the smallest. Playing the game and searching the whole time really made the hike a lot more fun. Next we went to the old village with Teepees. Landon and I drew our village for our Xplorer packet while my parents took a small walk by the water. We stopped for a quick lunch before heading to another hike where you get to overlook the whole lake. Once we got to the overlook there was a small beach so we decided to swim and spend the remainder of the day there.

After two long days of exploring we packed up and headed to our next spot, Brier Island!

  1. Hi Leila,
Must be so beautiful and cool. It looks like there are so many different types of mushrooms. So many different shapes and sizes and colors. Your Great Grandma has a book about mushrooms. I will find it so I can give it to you when you come home to visit. You can have it if you would like or we can just look at it together. Your Great Grandma always liked to cook meals using different types of mushrooms. You just have to be careful and know Your Mushrooms!
You don’t want to die, like Codi always says. lol
Have fun on your travels. Keep learning what our beautiful planet has to offer.
    Love Grandma.
