Kentucky Part Two

Hi guys, we were camped at Paragon Lake for 10 days, it was a blast! Landon and I played in the water so much I even rode my tube across the cove to the other campsites. The lake itself it pretty large but we were just on a small arm of it. Along the water next to our RV is a line of trees in the perfect formation for a fort so of course Landon and I played in it while we were there. There were so many butterflies everywhere so Landon and I got a small net and caught a million, no, more like a hundred billion lol. We set up our hammocks to sit and watch the boats on the boat ramp,  Landon thought it was the coolest thing in the world. We spent many days relaxing by the lake and sun bathing

We went for an adventure day at a waterfall my dad found. He didn’t tell us the name until we got there because it was called Broke Leg Falls. The sign along the trail said there’s many rumors how it got its name but to make your own theory as you hike. It was so fun and beautiful there that we ended up going back a second time. My dad and I stood under the  waterfall and then I jumped off a rock into water and landed right on a rock.  I’m fine but i learned the lesson of testing the water before jumping in. The second time we went we did a picnic at the top of the falls before hiking down. This time the sun was shining so we played along the water, sunbathed and hung out for a few hours before heading back to the RV.

Since we were there for Easter weekend my parents found an egg hunt at the local park. They hid 8,000 eggs for the kids to find. It only lasted about 3 minutes before all the eggs were taken. They also hid some golden eggs that you got a prize if you found them but I didn’t end up getting one. We had so much fun and ended up getting so much candy and little toys. That night when we got back to the RV we got to color Easter eggs. Landon didn’t really understand that his hands don’t go in the dye and ended up with a yellow hand after. The next morning was Easter so me and my brother cleaned up the whole house, I even swept and shook out the rugs so the Easter bunny would have a clean place to hide the eggs.

“EASTER EGGS, SISSY EASTER EGGS! COME OUT SISSY THERE’S EGGS! I FOUND 6, NOW 7, NOW 8!” I jumped up startled when I realized it was Easter. I was jumping with joy, I hurried and got my clothes on. One after one Landon was finding more eggs but I finally got out of my bed and started collecting them. It was so much fun finding all the eggs and then my mom made blueberry pancakes with sausage links and watermelon for breakfast. Sooo good. We had a fun filled day with lots of yummy food and treats.

The day after Easter we went on a hike in the Red River Gorge. It was so pretty I loved it. Before we went for the hike we stopped at a sandy spot along the river to eat our lunch. The water was crystal clear and shimmered in the sun. Once we were done eating we started our hike and seen these trees that looked like banana trees. They smelt really good, like rain water. The hike was not that long, only 2.5 miles each way but it took us three hours because my little brother hiked the majority of it. The trail had you cross the river a bunch of times. It was fun but after awhile it got annoying trying to balance on all the rocks. Once we reached the waterfall my dad stood under the falls. I put my hand under to feel it and it was so cold it felt like needles. He tried talking me into getting in but it was way too cold, he’s cray cray. The waterfall had a bluish green tint but it was still crystal clear, so pretty. I loved all the scenery along the trail because it was mossy and like a jungle with roots growing everywhere.

That’s all for our time in Kentucky. My next blog will be about our short time in West Virginia.
